Lately I've been feeling demotivated to go out and shoot.
Singapore being so small and filled to the brim with so many great, talented photographers, amateur or not, I constantly find myself wondering if a certain shot of mine has already been done countless other times previously.
I do admit it's a pretty trivial thing to worry about, especially since I'm shooting for the joy of it and for my personal satisfaction. Also, I am aware that there are LOADS of other places in sg I haven't shot yet. I used to tell myself "Just shoot what you like, it's for your eyes only", but the more into this hobby I get, the more I wanna personalise myself and make sure what I do stands out, at least kinda different from others.
Up to the point of me writing this, I've always been the kind to just go out, walk around aimlessly and snap photos of what I like. Not that there's anything wrong with that but the photos lack a certain story being conveyed, to capture attention. Here's what I realised, yes, beautiful pictures are nice to look at but having a back story to keep in mind and refer to while viewing images is what really captivates me, much like any art really.
So from that, as much as I hate coming up with concepts of what to shoot, I think a certain theme or issue can help guide me on what to look out for and motivate me to shoot again. Every roll will be like a mini-series of images, wouldn't that be fun? I already have some ideas of things I'd love to try, with different concepts and execution for each and honestly it is making me kinda pumped. Hopefully I commit to this and not give up halfway lol, we'll see how things go.
